Privacy notice
Draft for review. This notice describes how the site is built today; it needs checking by James (and ideally a solicitor) before launch.
Who we are
Evela Stays is the data controller for information you give us through this website. [Registered company name, number and address TBC] [Contact email for privacy questions TBC]
What we collect and why
- Enquiries and bookings: your name, contact details, dates, number of guests and anything you tell us, so we can answer your enquiry and arrange your stay.
- Valuations and cleaning quotes: your contact details, the property address and details, and any photos you send, so we can prepare a valuation or quote.
- House guide access: your name and email, so we know who is staying. Access to the guide never depends on agreeing to marketing.
- Newsletter: your email address, only if you sign up.
Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, performing our contract with you, or our legitimate interest in replying to you. We send marketing emails only with your consent.
Marketing
Every form on this site has a marketing box that is unticked by default and entirely optional. We only send you news if you tick it or sign up to the newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
Who we share it with
- Netlify hosts this website and receives form submissions.
- Our booking system [Hostaway] holds booking details when you book.
- Our email provider [Brevo] holds newsletter subscribers and enquiries. [Confirm before launch]
We don't sell your information. We keep only what we need, and delete form submissions from the website host once they have been passed to our own systems.
How long we keep it
[Retention periods TBC: for example, enquiries that do not lead to a booking deleted after 12 months; booking records kept for 6 years for tax purposes]
Cookies and analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies or collect personal data, so there is no cookie banner. Our fonts are hosted on our own site.
Property films are hosted on Vimeo or YouTube. They load only when you press play, and at that point the video provider may set its own cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, object to how we use it, or withdraw your marketing consent at any time. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
